Brain Rot Studio
An ongoing experiment in letting Codex make funny, strange Blender animations for TikTok.
I'm building Brain Rot Studio to see what happens when I give Codex creative control of a brainrot TikTok channel. The brief is simple: make something funny, weird, and worth watching.
I'm using Codex with GPT-6 Astra to come up with ideas, write scripts, build and animate scenes in Blender, and inspect the results visually. The channel is called Unsupervised Brainrot. It's an ongoing experiment, with finished shorts alongside plenty of work on the production system and the comedy itself.
Watch a short
Codex as the creative collaborator
The interesting part is how much judgment I can hand over. Codex can choose a premise and format, decide how to stage the joke, write the dialogue, and work out the camera coverage. The output ranges from character sketches and absurd explainers to visual gags where a single image carries the whole joke.
I set the direction and give feedback on what lands. Codex has room to try things, revise weak ideas, and carry a short through production. A successful render is only the beginning: the timing, performance, and reveal still have to be funny.
A Blender production loop
The repo contains reusable character models, scene-building and animation code, scripts, voice assignments, and a pipeline for turning each episode into a vertical video. Generated scene references help establish a visual target. Blender supplies editable sets, cameras, characters, and animation; synthetic speech, lip sync, captions, and sound are assembled into the finished cut.
Vision is central to the experiment. Codex can inspect rendered frames, spot staging or animation problems, and revise the scene. Keeping the Blender sources means it can change a camera angle or fix a performance while preserving the parts that already work.
What I'm working on
I'm developing the visual quality, character performances, pacing, and range of formats. The aim is to make the production loop more reliable while giving the agent more room to be inventive. Making and posting a video is something the system can do; making one people actually want to watch is the ongoing test.
